DonorsChoose Enables Teachers to Meet the Need in their Classrooms

Dani Ginther is a nurse at California Trail Middle School and recently posted a DonorsChoose project that was funded by online donors and matched by the Olathe Public Schools Foundation.

OPSF is, again this school year, helping Olathe educators get the items they need for their classroom by matching gifts dollar for dollar at www.DonorsChoose.org/olathe. All Olathe certified educators are eligible for up to $1,000 in matching funds for qualifying projects during the 2023-24 school year, even if they received matching OPSF funds during the previous school year.

DonorsChoose.org is an innovative national platform used by the community to support teachers, classrooms and students. This platform ensure teachers get the things they need and allows them be more creative in their teaching and classrooms without paying for it from their own pockets. This program helps make sure our educators feel valued and supported. Our partnership with DonorsChoose.org encourages creative thinking, builds support and puts resources directly into Olathe classrooms.

We asked Dani about one of her recent DonorsChoose projects, "DonorsChoose is such a great nonprofit organization! As a school nurse, I see a lot of students come in for earaches and school injuries. I love explaining why something may be hurting my students. I want them to understand what is going on and why we might be treating their injury with ice, etc. With these models, my students are able to learn in a meaningful way."

Dani explains that the process is pretty easy and can be done without much effort, "Creating the project was so simple and easy. DonorsChoose is a user-friendly website with step-by-step instructions on how to create a project. I have created several other projects that have been fully funded, and just posted a new project as well!" The impact of these projects will far out-weigh the dollars invested. Your donations to DonorsChoose and the Olathe Public Schools Foundation goes directly to helping our students and staff succeed, making a positive and immediate difference in so many lives. Thank you!
