Over $50,000 in Foundation grants were distributed to Olathe classroom Monday, March 26. This was the third and final cycle in the Foundation’s 2017-18 grant program. These grants focused on a variety of areas including science, art, construction and horticulture - everything from steel drums to spectrophotometers. The Olathe Public Schools Foundation is happy to annually support Olathe schools with over $100,000 in classroom grants.
Meeting the Need
In 5th grade, Olathe students have the opportunity to explore various instruments with the end goal of joining either the band or orchestra programs. For many, this is the first step in a lifelong love of performing. However, the cost of renting or buying an instrument is an obstacle difficult to overcome for some financially struggling families.
