My Students:
My students are from a variety of backgrounds, and learning needs, but they all need to be scientifically literate and socially adept. They need to think critically and persist despite challenges. This STEAM project will provide exposure to these skills and invite cross-cultural interaction where students learn with and from each other.
My Project:
Knowing about explorers is one thing, but being able to design, plan, and build a boat using only duct tape and cardboard that holds two people demonstrates high-level thinking and the ability to solve a complex problem. Students will design their boat, create and test a prototype, and then race them in the FT swimming pool! This project will support their perceptions of classrooms as innovation spaces where they can stimulate their curiosity and pursue their ideas.

My Students Need:
Our students need opportunities to learn collaboratively create, test, and fully develop their ideas, and this project does just that.
