26th Annual Olathe Public Schools Foundation Golf Classic raised over $144,000 for Olathe Public Schools
On Thursday, June 8th at Falcon Ridge Golf Club, Olathe Public Schools Foundation held the 26th Annual Golf Classic. It was the most beautiful day with a few clouds in the morning, but the temperature was comfortable, and the company was even better. Two completely sold-out flights of 36 teams each were played and over $144,000 was raised for Olathe’s most vulnerable students, teacher and staff recognitions, classroom innovation, basic needs, trainings, and support needed to create a community where everyone thrives. So many people gathered together to have a day of fun on the links while supporting a cause that benefits the whole city of Olathe. Amazing!
We cannot thank our generous sponsors enough for stepping up and meeting the need yet again! Olathe Health and The University of Kansas Health Systems along with DS Bus were our Presenting Sponsors. American Digital Security, DLR Group, Garmin, Heritage Tractor, Piper Sandler & Co and Synetic Technologies came along with us as Corporate Sponsors. Every donation by every sponsor or participant is what makes this tournament worthwhile. It was a perfect day on the course with a breeze that came at just the right time to make this early June day exactly what it should be and help us to accomplish what we set out to do; raise much needed funds and have lots of fun!
Hospitality stops along the course added something extra to the warm day. Thanks to our sponsors like BSN Sports, John Deere, Logicalis, Newkirk Novak Construction Partners, and Truity Credit Union for providing much needed refreshments along the cart path. Strawbridge added a little nostalgia with a photo stop on Hole 2 and created keychains for each golfer as a memory of the day. The delicious secret recipe Brat Stop was extremely popular and “Brat” to us courtesy of Validity Screening Solutions. There were several hole contests adding extra entertainment to the day, including a Hole in One Contest sponsored by Robert Brogden’s Olathe Buick GMC and Robert Brogden’s Olathe Kia. There was also the popular Closest to the Superintendent Contest which Dr. Yeager himself came awfully close to winning! The day started bright and early with chicken biscuits from Chick-Fil-A. Between the two flights, under the tent, we were served chicken and burgers provided by Tyson Foods and Jason’s Deli, followed with cookies provided by Capitol Federal. We finished the day dining on food donated by our generous supporters, Torchy’s Tacos, who support us not only at events like these but at every single Teacher and Staff Recognition, along with Brown Suga, a brand-new Olathe business started by Olathe North graduates. Stop by and show these local businesses some love.
As the sun set over Falcon Ridge Golf Club and the 26th Annual Golf Classic, we reflected on the joy and fellowship we had with friends that feel like family, but mostly on how we can now meet the need and continue to help the children and staff in our Olathe Public Schools. Thank you! We appreciate you!
