My Students:
The C.O.N.N.E.C.T. Program at Olathe North High School is a transitioning program for young adults, between the ages of 18-21, who have severe and/or multiple disabilities; they have completed their high school requirements, but have not finished their IEP goals. Participants work on vocational, community-living, and daily-living skills.
My Project:
At this point, the vocational activities include workboxes that involve sorting, and assembling items, and shredding paper. Students continue doing the same workboxes over and over. I chose a project of assembling personal hygiene products to give to a local charity. The Eagles Service Club and Stuco will also be joining us to assist in this project.
My Students Need:
I want to make the vocational workboxes more meaningful, by planning an assembling project that could also be beneficial to the community.
