My Students:
CST has 776 students, ages 11-14. All of these students will attend P.E. classes this year. Our P.E. team of teachers work to promote fitness and wellness. This is achieved by learning and participating in over 40 physical education units. We also take pride in introducing activities that students may not have exposure to outside of school.
My Project:
Land navigation, orienteering, and geocaching with the use of GPS technology, is an activity that we would love to grant to our students. During the course of the unit, p.e. teachers would integrate science, social studies, math, and real world experiences. Students would learn how to navigate land using rugged handheld GPS systems that do not require a cell phone plan or wifi access. The data that the handheld receives is triangulated from the existing satellites orbiting the earth.
My Students Need:
A classroom set of ten handheld eTrex10 GPS systems are needed for students to utilize and participate in land navigation, orienteering, and geocaching at Chisholm Trail.
